This project aims to Re – design of Bizzarya – Deir Sharaf highway to
maintain the suitable service and safety for commuters, so two alternatives
of pavement structures are designed as flexible and rigid pavement, also the
slope stability was checked near Burqa intersection to prevent sliding in
soil.
The most common type used in Palestine is flexible, but the big question is,
WHY THE RIGID PAVEMENT IS NOT USED???
This project tried to answer these problems through eight chapters:
Chapter one, which is a general description about highways design.
Chapter two, about Bizzarya – Deir Sharaf highway description and case
study
Chapters three and four present all required data for design process as
traffic and geotechnical data, respectively. Also in Chapter three traffic
volume calculations maintained based on 2011 traffic count.
The main idea of this project appears in Chapters five, six and seven, which
present flexible pavement, rigid pavement and slope stability design,
respectively as detailed design processes.
Finally, Chapter eight answers the main question about rigid pavement by
presenting budget evaluation for materials required in flexible and rigid
pavement.
