The project is concerned about the design of foundation for The Western Amphitheater at Nablus Municipality Stadium for football.  Its site lies to the west of the playing area of Nablus stadium .

The stadium has a capacity around 5,000 persons, and expands on a distance about 120m, its area is about 2110m2, and the amphitheater consists of 18 seating's area.

Below the amphitheater, there are sport halls in the southern part and some commercial shops with a cafeteria above in the northern part. .

There are four types of foundations used depending on soil type, bearing capacity and the suitability of the type recommended with the site condition:

  1. Single footings.
  2. Combined footings.
  3. Mat foundation.
  4. Piles foundation.

Loads on columns are calculated using tributary area method and classified into four groups according to its ultimate load ,

The project is distributed in two semester , the first semester includes chapter one , chapter two  and chapter three . and the second semester includes chapter four and chapter five.

The project at all contains five chapters ; chapter one is introduction about the project site and scope of the project , chapter two is a review of foundation , it talks about types of footing and bearing capacity , Chapter three summaries the soil properties of the proposed project site . It talks about the site bearing capacity , Geotechnical and structural design of the foundation system suggested is in Chapter five . It includes the design of isolated and combined footing mat foundation and pile which is used as another alternative for mat foundation .

Single footings are designed using hand calculations, SAP and PROKON

Combined footings are designed using PROKON. Mat foundation is designed using SAP it is proposed to be constructed on the northern part, where  the allowable bearing capacity is 160 KN/m2.

Pile foundations are designed hand calculations and SAP, where capacity of pile is evaluated using ALL PILE program.
