First Place Award of “Made in Palestine”, 2012

The Department of Chemical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering won first place award of “Made in Palestine” of 2012. This prize is annually organized by the institution of Al-Nayzak for Supportive Education and Scientific Innovation at the national level within a partnership with Diakonia international institution. The idea of the project which won first place involved “ transferring plastic waste into liquid fuel”.

The execution of the project is attributed to the students Rahal Rasheed, Afnan Hamad, Marah Jamous, and Mohammad Munasereh under the supervision of the instructor Shadi Sawalha. The faculty arranged for a scientific visit for its personnel and students to the exhibition and was supervised by Dr. Abdelrahim Abusafa. The aim of the visit was to familiarize students with the experiments made by Palestinian universities and researchers as well as to encourage them to take part in the exhibition in the upcoming years.
