Green building is slowly becoming more accepted but it is not occurring fast enough and needs a booster its’ integration into modern society to become more efficiently and effectively.  Green buildings will ensure that the environment stops being devastated.

The objective of our project is to design civil engineering applications to transform an existing Engineering faculty building into green (structural & environmental aspects).  To assist the shift into green building, the United States Green Building Council established Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) which   provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions .the objectives of the design process are:

·         To achieve energy and water savings.

·         To incorporate environmental friendly materials into the building.

·         To implement waste and recycling policies.

·         To provide a high-quality internal environment

·         Enhance occupant comfort and health

Finally, we plan to achieve the least possible cost considering a high performance, according to LEED specifications.

This project has many objectives and should be satisfied for An-Najah faculty of Engineering as:

·     Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources

·     Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity

·     Providing high quality internal environment

·     Implementing waste and recycling policies.

·     Establishing a green society with the faculty and students.

·     Promoting Awareness on sustainability of the built environment and its benefits to all stakeholders & encouraging the use of Renewable technologies and strategies.

·     Demonstrating sustainability in design and operation.
