The traditional material is a critical problem in our country in term of both duration and cost. For the cost of construction material forms approximately 60% of the total project cost and affect the project duration. Recommending alternatives for cost significant material will reduce total project cost.

In construction projects it is very important to reduce project’s duration and the cost of labor and material, the main aim in our project to study the current used material locally and suggest alternative economical material; we will focus on plastering material, external cladding, and concrete formwork.

We will study the possible alternatives and analyzes their cost impact on total project cost and duration, and we will study alternative material applicability, availability, durability and safety, to be able to recommend economical, practical and safe alternatives for local contractors. And we will study the effect of this material on the design of structure.

This will improve building performance and improve cost performance of the construction projects which in turn will be reflected on the entire society welfare.

In Graduation project 2, we will test the impact if the possible alternative material on total project cost by conducting cost analysis for a project designed to use common construction material and after using the suggested alternatives of the same project, and redesign the affected parts of the building to check applicability of proposed material.

A Residential project will be selected as case study, and alternative material will be tested to check suitability and applicability by redesigning the building considering the selected alternative material.

The findings of this project will be recommended to be used by various construction professionals.
