Within the context of national problem of clean and sustained water, Nablus as a main Governorate will be targeted by this research. It addresses and tries to find feasible and practical solutions for such problem. This research will briefly have an overview of Nablus Governorate’s location, climate, geological formation, population and growth rate, industrial and social conditions. A well designed water system which provides sustained clean water to consumers is a corner stone in the way of building stable and developed community. The main scope of this project is to produce a comprehensive picture of water situation in Nablus Governorate for the coming 20 years. To achieve this scope, the following sub-objectives were set: Create a feasible 20 year plan in order to govern sustained water for all communities in Nablus Governorate.
This project employs the idea of clusters; dividing Nablus governorate into 5 main zones containing neighboring communities. These communities have alike characteristics such as elevation and joint community councils. This idea eases solving the problem of increasing water gap by grouping the communities and defining which spots have the top priority as some of them have no water network at all, others have greater water gap. These clusters are considered to carry out the analysis of the existing water conditions such as consumption and water gap. Later on, measures to find available alternatives will take place. Among which harvesting rain water, rehabilitation of the existing network and drilling new wells considering the existing aquifers in Nablus Governorate and perhaps neighboring governorates.
