The disposal of wastewater in an unsanitary and a traditional way like cesspits is a common practice in the west bank. This practice causes emissions of odors, spread of diseases and pollution of groundwater and soil.
However, environmentally-sound methods must be used to dispose of the wastewater in a suitable and healthy way by adopting a correct engineering network design for a wastewater collection network .
Finally, in our project we designed a wastewater network for the New Nablus Area (NNA) using the SewerCAD software.
After studying the area, we classified the entire area into two parts. We chose one of the parts to be our project area . The reason for choosing this part is because this is the main part of the area, and the other part depends on it and cannot be designed without having the first part of the area readily designed.
Nablus is one of the largest populated Palestinian cities and the most important city in the West Bank. It is the economic capital of the West Bank and hosts the largest Palestinian university. Nablus is located in the northern part of the West Bank as shown in Figure (2), and the center of the Governorate of Nablus with a number of villages of 56.The study area is located in the south-western part of the City of Nablus.
The objectives of this graduation project include the following:
1- To study the expected wastewater generation for the New Nablus Area (NNA)
2-To design a sewer system for the new Nablus area (NNA) using SewerCAD
3- To estimate the potential cost of this network .
SewerCAD is an extremely powerful program for the design and analysis of gravity flow and pressure flow through pipe networks and pumping stations. The program can be run in AutoCAD mode, giving you all the power of AutoCAD’s capabilities, or in Stand-Alone mode utilizing our own graphical interface .
SewerCAD allows you to construct a graphical representation of a pipe network containing information such as pipe data, loading, and infiltration.
