Abstract:

The purpose of the project is to study the effect of the Dead Sea earthquake on subsurface soil layers below the foundation of a symmetrical building with varying number of floors.

EduShake software program was used to figure out the response spectrum of the subsurface soil layers (amplification or damping) for Dead Sea earthquake. Structural analysis was done using software Sap2000 V14.2 program by utilizing the response spectrum found by EduShake program to find out the earthquake effect on the foundation of the building under consideration by evaluating the forces and moments.

Comparisons were done for forces and moment values with and without considering the Dead Sea Earthquake.
