The Palestinian rural areas suffer from lack of wired and wireless communications without or with limited internet services provided to such areas. Therefore, we are conducting the hardware design and implementation phase under the project "Internet over TV Band", so we could complete the design that will help providing internet services for such remote areas.
We will exploit the free frequencies that exist in TV band, which will enhance the coverage of the wireless of internet services, since the TV frequencies are lower than Wi-Fi frequencies, so it can penetrate obstacles and reach longer distances.
In this project, we carried out the design and implementation of the remainder of the RF components of the transceiver, that includes the mixer that takes an input of the information “Wi-Fi Frequency” signal and the local oscillator output to produce the required” down-converted to TV Frequency “signal. The components also include the bandpass filters (on both TV and Wi-Fi Frequencies) and the Low Noise Amplifier for the receiver side. Some considerations were made to assess the benefits of having a duplexer in order to achieve a full-duplex system using only one antenna for transmitting and receiving.
The purpose is to have the adaptor complete and ready for testing. After connecting all the pieces of the puzzle together we can finally use it for the designated application.
