Due to the lack of student accommodations that are designed typically to fulfill students’ needs, we have decided to design an environmentally friendly hostel. The importance of this project comes from the ideas that is supporting it and fulfill the need of students. It deals with most vital problems that students face these days including financial, social, educational, and time wasting issues. The most important issue we should concentrate on is how to make students as comfortable as we can, making this place their second home by ensuring them the needed facilities that help them adapting the new environment.
The project must respect structural, Architectural Mechanical Electrical and Environmental special design requirements, we also have to avail of solar energy, natural lighting. The main challenge in this project will be creating a new system that can be presented as a future proposal for a typical hostel of its first type here in Palestine which cope with technological development of current era.
The suggested process to implement this project is based on literature review about the structure, moreover, it is based on a research about case studies that supported us to identify the important specifications to start the project, these specifications helped us to get the necessary criteria and recommendations for such a design using simulation programs like Ecotect, Dialux, and Etabs.
As building engineers we aim to make our hostel comfortable as possible as we can (temperature, lighting, sound and color) and create a space to gather and entertain our students taking under consideration keeping their educational level as high as possible.
