Abstract
Number recognition is becoming increasingly important in our fast moving world today; That’s because classification based on numbers is used thoroughly in many areas in our everyday life.
This project intends to develop a method to recognize numbers. In other word, this project intends to make the computer understand the content of an image and in our case, the content is number. The image is first read by the program. Then, the image is cropped to extract only the image and discard all the unwanted parts of the image. Once the image is cropped, the image goes through a process.
The objective of thinning is to reduce the image components into an information that is essential to further analyze and recognize the number. The next process is feature extraction. The heart of this project lies in feature extraction because the extracted features are going to be used to recognize the image.
