The project is a rehabilitation center of people with special needs -physically disabled. The site is located to the west of Nablus within the territory under the new academic campus, close to school of “Bacaloria Al rowwad”.l. The highest point of the land rises 17 meters distributed over the whole land.
The project consists of:
Five floors: ground and first and second and two basements
Ground floor contains: entrance and reception / Gymnasium / outpatient clinics/ Administration
The first floor contains: occupational therapy / medical unit / library
The second floor contains: lodging / terrace
The first basement contains: a kitchen and food hall / multipurpose hall / Cafeteria
The second basement contains: hydrotherapy / dry therapy / exhibition / vocational rehabilitation includes: Computer-Electronics- fashion-sewing- carpentry-metal works
The third basement is limited to carpentry and metalwork , that lies under vocational rehabilitation, and also the services, which is located under the pool and hydrotherapy.
On the first side, the idea of the project as a center for the rehabilitation of people with special needs and, in particular, physically disabled, is to provide an architectural, social, healthy, comfortable rehabilitation space , which makes the visitor and user feels completely comfortable , and this is reflected in the quality of the design of the building, so it imposes the designer the use of simplicity and strength at the same time, because such buildings designs is a purely functional one.
On the other side, integration with nature was taken in consideration because it reflects a positive impact on center users. Hence, it has been the adoption of curved shape so that wraps around the internal major space suggests embracing. For the main entrance elevation, it consists of two layers - inner glass layer and outer openings layer that is known as” Double skin”, so that the openings were formed of different Size circles and arranged in a way giving softness and smooth , the visitor feels comfortable touching aesthetic element, and thus gives a wonderful reflection inside the building.
When the visitor enters the project, he finds a wide green space overlooked by all parts of the project from all sides, and a glass block contains ramps of 5% slope, links between this green area and other parts of the project , which enables both wheelchair users or ordinary people to move between different floors of the project, providing an atmosphere of entertainment and fun being overlooking the main internal space, and thus it forms an essential incentive for people with disabilities to use them instead of using the elevator, so he goes along way of fun and entertainment.
