With the evolution of life and the need of people to communicate, media like broadcasts and TVs were appeared and from this standpoint the idea of the project was born. There are many challenges must be faced and overcome to design a broadcast and TV building with high quality specifications and global standards to attract the audience and encourage them to invest in the media field by creating new prospects keep pace with the global development, and this is the aim of the project.
The main objectives of this project are: to design an integrated building according to global standards, and to apply maintainability guideline during design development and review stages in order to avoid future operation maintenance problems.
In this project the ACI-318-08 code for reinforced concrete structural design, and UBC -9 for earthquake load computations, ASCE for load computations were used in the structural part.
For environmental, in thermal part the Ecotect program was used to see the annual sun path for the building and the daylight level. About acoustics, in studios and waiting areas the sound transmission class that used was77 dB, and in the audience studio was 88 dB, and the reverberation time was less than 0.2 which is good. For lighting the appropriate luminaire was used in each room, but for the studios the lighting was not designed because the process needs proficient.
The HVAC system was designed for the cooling load which was higher than the heating load. The mechanical system was designed according to ASHERE code.
Architectural design includes planning, design and build a model, space and atmospheres that reflect artistic and technical considerations and social, environmental and aesthetic. It requires the creative manipulation and coordination in the field of light materials, technology and shadow. And for the design of a media building, taking in mind the factor of form and function has great importance in creating a perfect and comfortable atmosphere to produce pure media reaches viewers and listeners in the best shape.
The project consists of two floors with area equals 1676.5 m2. First floor consists of TV studios which are: audience participation studio for particular programs, interview and announcer’s studio, multipurpose TV production studio, with their control rooms and their requirements. Second floor consists of three broadcast studios, public administration department, and programs management departments, small dining hall with small kitchen.
Structural design is a major element in the designing phase for any project, since it determines if the project is structurally safe or not. The proposed project will be designed to resist the loads, and to resist earthquakes forces as well. This chapter defines the design standards that are used for shopping centers’ designs, such as codes, loads, programs.
Architectural acoustics may be defined as the design of spaces, structures, and mechanical/ electrical systems to meet hearing needs. With proper design efforts, wanted sounds can be heard properly and unwanted sounds (noise) can be attenuated to the point where they do not cause annoyance. (Mechanical and Electrical Equipment for Buildings)
Acoustic engineering is part of engineering that deal with vibration and sound. Acoustical engineering aims to reduce the discarded sound. Sounds could have major effects on well-being and human health, so that, it’s important to control. The noise is controlled by several methods in design and technology. Some Examples of these methods are, design of sound absorbers, silencers, buffer zone, and noise barriers. The technology of control the noise differs from outdoor and indoor.
Mechanical design of a building involves many aspects including water supply systems and drainage water systems design.
Lighting is one of the most overlooked and yet important elements of good interior design after all. In addition though, lighting is also essential in terms of creating the mood and ambience of a living space, so getting it right from the start is vital.
The safety design is very important for building, to save people lives and make the building safe in using and suitable for all people, especially those with special needs.
