Digital Over- Head Stirrer

Digital Over- Head Stirrer

Description of apparatus:

Digital overhead stirrer is high performance digital controlled overhead stirrer. Digital overhead stirrer has many superior features as follows:

  • Digital feedback control
  • Constant stirring speed against viscosity variation of stirred object
  • Slow start function to prevent from overflow
  • Digital LCD to monitor the status of stirrer
  • Multifunctional jog shuttle switch adopted
  • Pause/restart function and storage function
  • Overload protection and over temperature protection

Experiments done on it:

  • Homogeneous batch reactor:

The objective of this experiment is to determine the order and value of the rate constant for the liquid reaction of caustic soda and ethyl acetate in a batch reactor

NaOH + CH3COOC2H5 → C2H5OH + CH3COONa

The Digital overhead stirrer used to mix the reaction and keep it homogeneous.

  • Mixing Behavior under Various Operating Conditions:

The objective of this experiment is to study the behavior of mixing under various operating.

Mixing is applied to the processes used to reduce the degree of non-uniformity or gradient of a property in a system such as concentration, viscosity, temperature and so on.

There are many types of mixing: Single Phase Liquid Mixing, Mixing of Immiscible Liquids, Gas- Liquid Mixing, Liquid-Solid Mixing and Gas-Liquid-Solid Mixing

Mixing time is the time required producing a mixture or a product of predetermined quality, and the rate of mixing is the rate at which the mixing progresses towards the final state.

For a single-phase liquid in a stirred tank to which a volume of tracer materials is added, the mixing time is measured from the instant the tracer is added to the time when the contents of the vessel have reached the required degree contents of uniformity.

The mixing time will depend upon the process and the following: System geometry, Impeller Diameter (D), Speed of rotation (revs/unit time) N, Properties of liquids. t = f (N, D, g, ρ, μ

  •  Acid Base Reaction In The Mixing Tank:

The objective of this experiment is to determine the order of the reaction and the reaction rate constant.

The Digital overhead stirrer used to mix the reaction and keep it homogeneous.

  • Effect of fluid viscosity on mixing time:

The objective of this experiment is to determine the effect of fluid viscosity on the mixing time and mixing quality.

The Digital overhead stirrer used to mix the solutions and keep it homogeneous.

  •  Scale up of Stirred tank reactor:

The objective of this experiment is to apply different scale up rules on scaling 200ml batch to 2000ml.

The Digital overhead stirrer used to mix the solutions and keep it homogeneous.
