After considering and addressing the graduation projects in the field of transport system in Palestine, showing a little concerns with the side of a civilized and important means of transportation railway system. This is due to various reasons, and perhaps the most important is the financial resources, and lack of available data. (See report from the Ministry of Transport and Communications Palestinian) (Appendix A).
But in the recent period has been addressed, even in future by the Ministry of Transport and Communications to link the Palestinian West Bank cities, railway linking all of its parts.
In this sense the idea was launched this project, which deals with a section of that outlook, which is to redesign a railway and a hyphen between the cities of Nablus and Jenin in the northern West Bank, taking advantage of the Hejaz Railway, which was earlier a hyphen between the two cities.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Palestine is the most important sources of information in the collection of private information by topographic contour maps and where the use of multiple programs, such as, ArcMap GIS v.10 and CIVIL 3D 2009.
In this project many of related issues were gained from literature and books about the subject, and sites on the World Wide Web INTENET, which would be reflected later.
The first phase of the project concerns in collecting the necessary data, in order to benefit from these data in the design of railway in the second stage. At the end of the first phase of the project shows the urgency of the existence of such railway system in Palestine, to link the Palestinian cities to each other and connecting Palestine with neighboring countries, this aspect has been observed to be neglect, where the sources of information is scarce and has not reached the required level.
The second phase of the project concerns in re-designing of a railway. The railway connects the cities of Nablus and Jenin. The design based upon the European CEN Code. The suggested three main railway stations were located in Nablus Jenin and Masoudieh. The second phase showed a huge amount of Cut and Fill. Besides, there are several residential areas, therefore, the proposal was to construct of tunnels to maintain the needed grade which fits with the mentioned standards.
