Asphaltic Concrete Mix Design/Marshall Test And Density / Voids Analysis

Laboratory:
Highway Pavements And Materials Lab
Marshall standard compression frame
Compaction hammer assembly
Laboratory mixer
Isomantle heater
Water baths for Marshall specimens
Stability mould
Flow meter

This test involves the preparation of asphaltic concrete specimens having a given aggregate gradation and different asphalt cement contents . Then the specimens will be tested by the "Marshall Method " , and evaluated relative to void / density  characterstics to arrive at a design value for asphalt cement content .Finally , the interpolated physical and mechanical properties of the compacted asphaltic concrete will then be compared with specifications for paving mixtures and a job mix formula will be calculated .
