Ductility of Bituminous Materials

This method is used for determining the ductility of bituminous materials by measuring

the elongation before breaking when two ends of a briquette specimen are pulled

apart at a specified speed and temperature. The test is performed with a ductility machine,

which can be fitted with a liquid refrigerator- circulator  to perform tests at a temperature below 25°C or for use in tropical areas.

Generally, the ductility is a measure of the cementing power of the asphaltic material .However , it should be noted that the exact value of the ductility is not so important as the mere presence or lack of ductility .
